    HI Laura,

I enjoyed the blog on the mass exodus

    Laura,

Great to see how well you are doing

  3. I’d love to hear from you. Is a mass exodus of the most valued employees a concern and what are your ideas to address it.

  4. Hi Laura – great piece. I totally agree that Q2 2010 will see an exodus of talent from companies that believed in 2009 mantra: “be happy you have a job.” We have plenty of research that shows good talent is not only hard to find, but very employable regardless of economic circumstances. Leaders need to be sensitive and aware of their talent and implement proactive measures to nurture and keep good folks or risk watching them go to the competition.

Laura, you’re so right. A recent study by McKinsey, highlighted in the book Womenomics, regards talent as more important than strategy, R&D or even capital when it comes to what will determine a company’s success in the future. It stands to reason that the very best employees, whether they are currently employed or not, will be in play in upcoming talent war. Better to have the conversation than not. It may be an organization’s best chance at keeping their best people!

  6. Tony – Isn’t that the truth! The 2009 Mantra “Be happy you’ve got a job” That mantra has people believing the grass is greener almost anywhere other then where they work now!

    Leo,

When you speak of the talent war it reminds me of a piece done by Deloitte in 2006 called “It’s 2008 Where are your Employees?” It discussed the talent war and challenges that will come about as Boomers exit the marketplace with generation X population being significantly smaller. The troubled economy masked these troubles, but only for a while. Prepare for the rumble!

Great to hear from you both!
